Many of you will already know, but I wanted to share the good news here too. At Citrix Synergy 2016, Citrix announced it has partnered with Viewsonic and Micro Center to produce a sub $100 thin client platform, the Citrix HDX Ready Raspberry Pi Based Thin Client. This builds on work I’ve covered here and some great collaboration with ThinLinx to produce an Enterprise ready thin client with the right level of management tools and lock down.
This presents a significant challenge to the existing thin client vendors who typically offer devices many times the price of the Raspberry Pi based client. Sure it’s got some limitations, but it’s the start of what I hope is a real challenge to the overpriced, under-performing thin clients that often rolled out today.
